Wooden plugs colonised with chicken of the woods mycelium (Laetiporus sulphureus) for inoculating fresh logs.

Chicken of the woods forms orange yellow fans that grow in overlapping tiers; young and fried it has the texture of chicken, which is where the name comes from. Oak is the best host. Drill holes of 8 to 10 mm and seal them with wax. Eat only the young, tender edges and cook them through.
